The ideal candidate will bring experience in a similar environment and play a key role in supporting continued growth and operational success.Why Join as a Property Accountant?One of the largest commercial real estate firms in the Chicagoland areaStrong commitment to internal promotion and long-term employee developmentCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and flexible spending accountsExcellent work-life balancePositive, casual, and collaborative company cultureHybrid scheduleKey ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post monthly journal entriesReconcile bank accounts, including escrows and reserve accountsMaintain detailed supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts such as prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, mortgages, interest payable, real estate taxes, and tenant-related receivables/payablesReconcile and track capital activityPrepare journal entries for complex transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing activitiesMaintain the fixed asset ledger and record depreciation entriesAnalyze lease commissions, tenant allowances, and capital expenditures for proper accounting treatmentPartner with Property Management to prepare monthly variance analyses of operating revenues and expensesWork with senior accounting staff to support consolidated financial reporting for the multifamily portfolioProcess owner distributions and lender draw requestsAssist with tax return preparation and provide supporting documentationSupport external audit requests and year-end tax filingsAssist in the preparation and review of annual property budgetsParticipate in special projects and prepare ad hoc financial reports as neededAssist with tenant reconciliations and estimates in accordance with lease agreementsQualifications2+ year of accounting experiencePrior experience in real estate accounting strongly preferredBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
