Materials Developer
Overview of the RoleOur global consumer products client is seeking a Materials Developer to support seasonal apparel product creation initiatives within a global consumer brand environment. This role focuses on the technical execution of materials development, partnering with design and product creation teams to bring material concepts from brief through testing, validation, and production readiness.The Materials Developer will serve as a key cross-functional partner throughout the product creation process, helping ensure materials meet performance, quality, manufacturing, and timeline requirements. This role requires strong technical knowledge of textiles, fabric development, and material manufacturing processes, along with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.The ideal candidate is a highly organized and collaborative materials professional with expertise in textile development, strong technical problem-solving skills, and experience supporting seasonal product creation cycles.The BasicsDuration: Through October 2026Hours: 40 hours per weekLocation: Hybrid, based in Beaverton, OROnsite Requirements: 4 days onsite per week, remote on FridaysTop 3 Required Qualifications3+ years of experience in materials development, textile development, or a related product creation functionStrong technical knowledge of textile manufacturing processes including yarns, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing, and finishing techniquesExperience managing material validation, testing, and production readiness activities within a product creation environmentOther QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferredExperience working within apparel, footwear, or consumer product manufacturing industriesFamiliarity with product creation and commercialization processesExperience partnering cross-functionally with designers, technical developers, product managers, and sourcing teamsStrong project management and organizational skillsExperience reviewing material specifications and translating design intent into production-ready materialsAbility to manage multiple seasonal development timelines simultaneouslyStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience using PCX, Smartsheet, and Miro preferredExperience working for a Fortune 500 retail or consumer products company is a plusKey ResponsibilitiesMaterials Development & ExecutionManage the technical development of materials from initial design brief through validation and production readinessReview design intent and translate concepts into manufacturable material solutionsCoordinate material testing, validation, and performance assessmentsEnsure developed materials meet quality, performance, cost, and timeline expectationsTechnical Material ExpertiseApply knowledge of yarns, textiles, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques throughout the development processEvaluate material construction, performance, and feasibility for productionIdentify technical challenges and recommend solutions that support business and product goalsProduct Creation CollaborationPartner closely with designers, technical developers, product managers, and sourcing partners throughout seasonal development cyclesSupport cross-functional decision-making related to materials, manufacturing, and commercializationEnsure alignment between design intent and technical executionProject Management & SystemsMaintain accurate development information, timelines, and project documentationManage material development workflows and key deliverables across multiple seasonsUtilize PCX, Smartsheet, Miro, and related tools to support visibility and communication across teamsTrack milestones and proactively communicate risks, issues, or potential delaysIn this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data.
