Title: Licensed Practical NursePractice: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery AssociatesLocation: Marietta, OhioOffice Hours:Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 4:00pmFriday 7:30am - 12:00pmSaturday & Sunday: ClosedPosition Purpose:The licensed practical nurse (LPN) supports the oral surgery team by providing high-quality patient care and ensuring smooth clinical operations. This role assists surgeons during all phases of treatment, manages medications and controlled substances, performs IV starts and patient monitoring, and oversees infection control and emergency readiness. The LPN ensures accurate documentation, coordinates pre- and post-operative communications, and helps maintain supplies, equipment, and chart compliance. This position also supports surgical assisting, specimen handling, and sterilization processes as needed to promote safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.Essential FunctionsPatient Care & Clinical SupportProvide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician or RN.Monitor and document patient vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment.Assist with pre-, intra-, and post-operative care, including patient education and recovery monitoring.Start, maintain, and discontinue IVs (where permitted).Administer medications as ordered and maintain accurate medication records.Perform diagnostic tasks such as glucose testing, EKG strip reading, and blood draws.Clinical Workflow & CoordinationManage patient flow and support efficient daily operations in the clinical area.Ensure charts, consents, and clinical documentation are accurate and complete.Communicate pre- and post-operative instructions and follow-up with patients as needed.Safety, Compliance & Infection ControlMaintain and track controlled substances and other medications in accordance with regulations.Support sterilization procedures and infection control protocols.Oversee emergency equipment readiness (defibrillator, oxygen, emergency medications).Participate in or lead routine emergency response drills.Technical & Procedural SkillsOperate clinical and surgical equipment (monitors, infusion pumps, PRP machine, suction, O2/N2O, imaging equipment).Assist with specimen collection and processing as needed (e.g., biopsy submissions).Communication & CollaborationWork closely with physicians, clinical staff, patients, and outside providers to coordinate care.Request and track medical clearances; communicate clearance requirements to patients.Assist with or perform duties of a surgical assistant when necessary.QualificationsEducation:High school diploma or equivalency, requiredCompletion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with active licenseAssociate or bachelor’s degree in nursing (ADN or BSN) preferredBasic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, and PALS requiredDAANCE Certification or willingness to complete the DAANCE certification requireExperience:Prior nursing experience in surgical, perioperative, Med/Surg, or critical care settings highly preferredProficiency in patient assessment, perioperative care, and postoperative monitoringExperience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) and accurate clinical documentationStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient education and comfortKnowledge of infection control, safety standards, and clinical best practicesAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentPerformance Requirements:Approachable, professional demeanorDetail-oriented and thorough in task execution.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing situations.Empathetic and patient-focused approach to care coordination.Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Team player with excellent collaboration skills.Independent decision-making skills and utilization of sound judgement.Strong work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond.What we do for you:We offer Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance plans to our full-time employees.Two out of the three medical plans offered include Health Savings Account (HSA) eligibility.Company-paid Life, AD&D and Long-Term Disability coverage.Additional Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance for you and your family!Voluntary Short-Term Disability Insurance available to you as wellDependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) offered.Immediately begin saving for retirement through our 401(k) starting with very first paycheck!Employer 401(k) contribution and Profit Sharing after six months of employmentPTO and 8 Paid holidays for fulltime employees!DISCLAIMERThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by people assigned to this work.
