Job DescriptionPosition Summary:The Controls Engineer is crucial in ensuring the successful execution of projects by overseeing site surveys, interpreting bid specifications and drawings, preparing project quotations, and designing industrial control panels. This position requires a passion for industrial automation, the ability to communicate clearly with customers, and a keen eye for detail.Job Duties:Site Surveying:Conduct comprehensive surveys of job sites to assess existing equipment, infrastructure, and control systemsCollaborate with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to understand project requirements, constraints, and objectivesIdentify potential challenges, risks, and opportunities for improvement based on site conditions, client specifications, and the Data Flow product lineInterpreting Bid Specifications and Drawings:Review bid specifications, drawings, and technical documents provided by clients to understand project scope, deliverables, and requirementsEnsure alignment between bid specifications and proposed project solutions, making necessary clarifications or adjustments as neededCoordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure that project proposals meet end-user expectations and comply with regulatory standardsProject Quoting:Prepare accurate and detailed project quotations based on the findings from site surveys, bid specifications, and client requirementsEstimate material costs, labor hours, and other expenses necessary for project executionCollaborate with procurement and sales teams to ensure that quotations align with company pricing strategies and profitability goals. Industrial Control Panel Design:Oversee the in-house development of control system architectures, component layouts, and wiring diagrams to ensure they are consistent with the project’s goals and end-user needs and by industry standards and best practices. Select appropriate hardware components based on project requirements and specifications, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and electrical devices. Technical Documentation:Reviews technical documentation, including bill of materials (BOM), panel layout drawings, and wiring diagrams, to ensure that all documentation complies with regulatory standards, customer requirements, and internal quality assurance procedures. Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with project managers, engineers, technicians, and vendors to effectively coordinate project activities and timelines. Communicate project status updates, milestones, and potential issues to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner. Provide technical support and guidance to installation teams during panel assembly, wiring, and testing phases. Work will be done both indoors in a temperature-controlled environment and outdoors at job sites in hot or cold temperatures. The noise level in a typical office environment is low to moderate, though hearing protection and other personal protective equipment will be required on some job sites.
