MAC is all of those things and more.The RoleMultnomah Athletic Club (MAC) is seeking a Water Exercise Supervisor to join our dynamic Aquatics Department. This role is ideal for a passionate aquatic fitness professional who enjoys leading people, growing programs, and delivering an outstanding member experience in a premium club environment.The Water Exercise Supervisor oversees the operation, safety, and continued growth of MAC’s water exercise and aquatic personal training programs. This individual actively supports and supervises water fitness instructors, ensures program quality, and serves as a knowledgeable, welcoming resource for members interested in aquatic fitness classes, private training, and special events.This is a part-time, hourly position combining administrative leadership responsibilities with hands-on instruction.Time CommitmentApproximately 12–15 administrative hours per weekTeaching ~6 water fitness classes per weekOptional private lessons: up to 10 additional hours per weekSchedule & Work EnvironmentMust be available for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as neededWork is primarily performed in a pool environment, including exposure to humidity, chemicals, and wet surfacesRequires regular standing, walking, bending, and movement on pool decksMust maintain the physical ability to demonstrate aquatic exercises and ensure participant safety What You’ll DoSupervise and support water exercise programming to ensure safe, high-quality instructionActively oversee aquatic fitness classes and personal training sessions to promote member safety, engagement, and satisfactionCoordinate and manage the water exercise class schedule, including instructor staffing and coverageRecruit, train, supervise, and evaluate water fitness instructorsPlan and implement aquatic fitness events, workshops, and special programmingServe as a primary point of contact for member questions, feedback, and concerns, ensuring timely and professional resolutionCommunicate class schedules, updates, and new offerings to members and staffRepresent aquatic fitness in departmental and club committee meetingsSupport payroll processes and monitor instructor hours and program expenses within budget guidelinesDevelop and maintain innovative, relevant, and engaging aquatic programmingPromote aquatic personal training services and conduct private lessons as scheduledUphold all Club safety policies and procedures, identifying and reporting unsafe conditions or incidentsPromote MAC’s mission, values, and code of conduct while delivering exceptional member serviceMaintain regular and reliable attendance What You’ll BringHigh school diploma required; college degree in Exercise Physiology, Recreation, or a related field preferredMinimum of two years of water fitness instruction experienceMinimum of two years of supervisory or leadership experienceCurrent nationally recognized water fitness certification (e.g., AEA or equivalent)Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, or ability to obtain within one month of hireStrong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to motivate, mentor, and develop staff while fostering a positive team cultureDemonstrated computer proficiencyAbility to communicate effectively with members, guests, and colleaguesAbility to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodationWhat You'll GainAt Multnomah Athletic Club, we believe in taking care of our team members.
