Senior Associate - Building Enclosure

We’re working on a hybrid schedule with a mix of two days in the office, time in the field on site visits (up to 30%), and time to work from home. Our base salary is expected to start at $160,000 annually, though may be higher based on well-aligned experience.   Overview  You’ll lead building enclosure investigation work from assessment through project delivery, solution development, business development and client communication. Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and consultants; guide project scope, schedule, and quality; and deliver practical, constructible, and enduring solutions.  Essential Functions  Lead the project team and provide technical direction; review field and document findings from technicians and specialists  Own project delivery—scope, schedule, quality, and execution  Serve as a trusted advisor; build and develop client relationships  Proactively communicate project status and changes to clients and stakeholders  Build industry reputation and support outreach to prospective clients to grow this line of business within the Seattle/PNW area; Identify opportunities to enhance service or expand scope  Conduct and direct site investigations and field reviews of existing and new construction, including visual diagnostics, testing, and intrusive investigations as needed  Review background documentation to determine original construction detailing and identify causes of defects or damage  Prepare and present clear, detailed reports documenting existing conditions, defects, recommended repairs, and estimated extent of repair  Collaborate with clients on next steps following evaluations; provide peer review of findings for team members  Support business development by developing proposals, scopes, and budgets   Coordinate with consultants to produce construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents   Manage resources and time effectively to meet utilization goals  Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering; licensure or professional credentials required (RA or PE)  Minimum 15 years of industry experience in architecture, engineering, or construction  Five (5) years of forensic or investigative project experience highly desirable  Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills  Technical understanding of most building types  Ability to perform services with limited supervision  Deep knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and activities; construction administration experience  Solid understanding of building materials, methods, enclosures, structures, and systems  Knowledge of construction contract types and forms  Curious, inquisitive, and strong problem-solving approach  Able to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment  Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel  Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Box; knowledge of PlanGrid is a plus  Willingness to travel up to 30% locally and regionally  Physical Requirements  Candidates should have the ability to:  Move through construction and existing building sites over rough terrain  See and respond to dangerous situations   Respond quickly to sounds   Ascend and descend ladders and stairs   Move safely through confined spaces and narrow paths   Work in outdoor weather conditions or unconditioned areas   Operate a computer and other related office equipment, and possess visual acuity to read information from printed sources and computer screens  Lift up to 40 pounds (ladders)  Travel approximately 30% of the time, locally and regionally Benefits  Marx Okubo is a privately held Employee Stock Ownership Plan firm; employee-owned, we offer internal growth, continuing education, mentor/mentee opportunities, as well as 100% paid health insurance premiums, up to a 30% match on your 401(k) contributions, and competitive compensation.
