Payroll, Accounting & Bookkeeping Specialist (Restaurant Group) Full-Time | Jersey City, NJ or New York, NY We are seeking an experienced Payroll, Accounting & Bookkeeping Specialist to oversee the financial operations of two high-volume, upscale restaurants—one in Jersey City and one in Lower Manhattan. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands the pace, complexity, and nuance of the restaurant industry and can operate independently without constant oversight. About the Role You will be responsible for managing all day-to-day financial functions across both locations, including payroll, invoicing, bookkeeping, and financial reporting. This role requires strong attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to work closely with ownership and operations to provide clear financial insights. Key Responsibilities Payroll Management Process and manage payroll through ADP Ensure accuracy of hours, tips, overtime, and compliance with labor laws Handle payroll reporting, audits, and employee inquiries Accounting & Bookkeeping Maintain accurate books for both locations Manage accounts payable and receivable Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and POS reports Track and manage vendor invoices and payments POS & Systems Integration Work with Toast POS for daily sales reconciliation Ensure proper syncing of sales, tips, and financial data Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports Analyze labor costs, food costs, and overall performance Identify discrepancies and provide actionable insights Support budgeting and forecasting efforts Operational Support Work closely with ownership and management on financial decisions Help improve systems, processes, and cost controls Ensure financial organization and compliance across both restaurants Qualifications Minimum 3–5+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience in restaurants or hospitality Strong experience with ADP payroll systems (required) Experience with Toast POS (strongly preferred) Solid understanding of restaurant financials (labor, COGS, prime cost) Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accountable Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities Strong communication skills and professional judgment What We’re Looking For Someone who owns their role and does not require hand-holding A problem-solver who can identify issues before they become problems A team player who can work across departments while maintaining financial discipline Someone comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Position Details Full-Time Location: Jersey City, NJ or New York, NY (must be able to support both locations as needed) Competitive salary based on experience If you’re experienced, reliable, and ready to take full ownership of financial operations within a growing restaurant group, we’d love to hear from you.
