Paid time off and other benefits are offered in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Public School Employees of Kelso Chapter #1 found HERE.School employees | Washington State Health Care AuthorityJOB PURPOSE:The job of "Seasonal Maintenance/Grounds Support" is done for the purpose of assisting other personnel; preserving landscaped areas in a healthy, attractive, and safe condition; ensuring safe operation of vehicles and equipment; loading, unloading, and transporting equipment & supplies; maintaining a safe working environment; and providing support when applicable to other maintenance personnel in the performance of their duties.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.Assist other personnel with general maintenance work including painting, carpentry, grounds keeping for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.Maintains landscaping (e.g. mowing lawns, pruning shrubbery, planted areas, irrigation, fences, playgrounds, parking lots, etc.) for the purpose of preserving landscaped areas in a healthy, attractive and safe condition.Inspect school or district facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.Performs minor maintenance and repairs to equipment (such as lawn mowers, sprinklers, trimmers, outdoor equipment) for the purpose of maintaining a safe working environment.Drives and maintains vehicles and trailers to transport equipment and supplies.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE AND/OR ABILITES REQUIRED:Ability to assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.Skills and knowledge to safely drive large trucks with trailer and utility vehicles; operate material handling equipment; hand tools and power tools commonly used in grounds keeping/horticulture/general maintenance; and operate large mowers and tractors.Knowledge of safe driving practices; methods for receiving, storage, delivery of materials; and Hazard Communication and Safety Data Sheet requirements.Ability to follow oral and written instructions; work independently with minimal supervision; perform a variety of tasks; and work cooperatively with students, staff and the public.Significant physical abilities include walking for prolonged periods, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling/stooping/ crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation/field of vision.Must have excellent moral character; be able to get along with staff, students and adults; present a positive public image; maintain a neat, clean personal appearance; wear clothing appropriate to tasks being performed; have regular and consistent work attendance; work shifts as assigned, including weekends; and have a telephone and respond to off-hour emergencies as needed.Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Valid driver's license, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.EDUCATION:High school diploma and/or equivalent; prior job related experienceOTHER FUNCTIONS:Other duties as assignedRESPONSIBLE TO:Facilities & Operations SupervisorBARGAINING UNIT AFFILIATION:Public School Employees of Kelso Chapter #1 (PSE 1)Kelso School District #458 complies with all federal rules and regulations and does not discriminate in any programs or activities on the basis of sex, race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, veteran or military status, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups listed in Title 36 of the United States Code.
