Supplier Quality Engineer
Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer Location: NY Duration: ContractJob Description & Skill Requirements:Serve as a Supplier Quality Engineer responsible for leading part qualification activities by managing the APQP/PPAP process. Evaluate and validate supplier manufacturing processes to ensure delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable components that meet design and regulatory standards. This includes reviewing process flows, control plans, and risk assessments to ensure consistent and robust manufacturing.Work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and production teams to qualify new parts, assemblies, and raw materials used in electromechanical products, including plastics, sheet metal, PCBs, cables, and wire harnesses. Ensure suppliers meet all technical, functional, and quality requirements.Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality assurance strategies, inspection standards, and qualification procedures for both new product introductions and existing products. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to align supplier quality processes with industry best practices and organizational standards.Review and approve supplier documentation such as Process Validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), PPAP, FAI, and PSW. Ensure full compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality system requirements before production release, while providing actionable feedback to suppliers for timely gap closure.Monitor supplier performance using KPIs, delivery metrics, PPM (defect rates), and quality scorecards. Lead supplier performance reviews, ensuring accountability and driving corrective and preventive actions for sustained improvement.Key Success Factors:Review supplier First Article Inspection (FAI) reportsApprove shipments based on quality standardsCoordinate with receiving inspection teams and review inspection reportsInitiate and manage Part Submission Warrant (PSW) documentationCollaborate with suppliers to obtain signed PSW agreementsEnsure timely submission of APQP deliverables from suppliersExecute process validation in accordance with SRPQP documentation
