At Reddy Ice, you’ll keep ice merchandisers running flawlessly while advancing continuous improvement across our field operations.Imagine This WeekMonday starts with a preventive maintenance circuit—cleaning, inspecting, and tuning merchandisers. Midweek you lead a quick Kaizen to streamline parts staging using A3 thinking. Friday you’re swapping a unit at a grocer, updating your SOP notes on your handheld, and sharing learnings with peers over a video huddle. Through it all, you practice servant leadership, respect for people, and fact‑based, no‑nonsense communication.Your ResponsibilitiesRepair and troubleshoot ice merchandisers during field service calls.Install, replace, and remove units at customer sites.Perform scheduled PMs and thorough cleanings to prevent failures.Support operations at retail locations, Reddy Ice plants/DCs, and refurbishment centers.Attend company‑sponsored technician trainings; expand your trade skillset.Maintain vehicle, tools, and equipment; manage spare parts inventory and request supplies.Deliver customer‑centric service with respectful, consistent communication.Recommend SOP improvements to the Field Equipment Service Manager; engage in team discussions via video/calls/other tech.Exhibit professionalism: safe driving, on‑time arrival in uniform, immediate incident reporting, and strict adherence to safety procedures and manuals.Collaborate with teammates and assist as needed; take on additional duties assigned by management.Live our Code of Business Ethics—honesty, integrity, and the highest standards.Own safety—because safety is personal.Mindset and Cognitive RequirementsRead/interpret English safety, operating, and maintenance documents.Stay alert and unfatigued; work safely at all times.Judge time and distance accurately; rapidly recall instructions.Maintain concentration and sound judgment for tasks needing high cognitive function.Adapt to sudden changes, emergencies, and alarms.Demonstrate care for safety; possess quick reflexes and coordination for rapid response.No mental/physical impairments that would compromise safe, competent work.Respond promptly and appropriately to operating conditions.QualificationsJourneyman HVAC certification required.EPA Type I or Universal refrigeration certification required.No experience required; prior refrigeration/HVAC/electrical install or repair is a plus.Valid operator’s/Class C driver’s license with acceptable MVR; able to operate a company vehicle.Maintain 80%+ scores on all internal Tech 1 training courses.High school diploma, refrigeration trade certificate, or equivalent experience.Basic computer and handheld proficiency; follow handheld reporting SOPs.Work Environment and Physical DemandsMinimal travel with possible overnights. Schedule includes weekends, nights, and holidays. Work occurs in retail stores with frequent driving between sites and the plant. Lift up to 60 lbs; use installation lift equipment; climb ladders; operate power tools. Overtime may be required.
