After School Program Lead
We are looking for a qualified lead teacher to join our family here at Unity school. Qualified teacher means either a step 6 in the ORO with 6 months experience leading an after school classroom ages 5-10, or, 1 year minimum experience, or 30 college credits in ECE, SPED, or Elementary Education and 6 months experience. If you apply for the position without experience of the criteria outlined above you will not be considered for the position.
Additionally, we are looking for a creative teacher with a knack for helping children K-4 to have fun and stay busy with inspiring activities. A compassionate person who knows how to teach children how to solve their problems with peaceful conflict-resolution, is equity driven, as well as knows how to teach the children how to navigate appropriate social interactions and communication. We want a teacher on our team who loves to incorporate activities like art, science, creative writing, practical life lessons, board games, and other fun activities in the classroom. Someone who can work well with multiple different age groups and wants to help our group of children grow to be the best community members they can be!
We are also looking for a person who considers themselves a leader and shows leadership qualities such as being to work on time, finishing assigned duties in a timely manner, working cohesively with our staff and families, is family supported and has a growth mindset.
In the summer we provide a fun summer camp that you will get to oversee and create. Unity is known for a lot of summertime field trips exploring within Lane County and beyond.

Hours: In the summer this position is full time, with a preference of a 9:00-5:00 M-F schedule. Otherwise typically, Monday-Friday, 1:00-6:00 during school days with an opportunity to work in other classrooms as a sub for extra hours. On 4j and Springfield 'No School' days, 9:30-5:30, this includes spring break, winter break and any 'No School Days'.
Supervises: Teacher Assistant or Aide
Responsibilities and duties: vary; upon assignment.
Preference: Given to candidate who has at least 1 year experience in a k-4 after school setting, or experience teaching elementary, and is willing to learn how to drive the 14-passenger bus to transport children to and from public school programs or on field trips and special activities. It is similar to driving a u-haul truck and is easy to drive. We will train you.
Education and Experience: Degree or coursework in Elementary Education, Special Education, Recreation or a related field or at least 1 year of experience as a teacher in a certified childcare center.
