The organization offers a stable, collaborative environment where engineers work closely with cross-functional teams on impactful, large-scale projects across multiple industries.Role Overview:Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design of low voltage switchboards and panelboards. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys both technical design work and guiding junior team members. This is also a great opportunity for someone looking to step into a senior-level role while continuing to stay closely involved in the engineering work itself. The team is open to candidates relocating to the Charleston area.Key Responsibilities:Design low voltage switchboards and panelboards in compliance with industry standardsDevelop detailed 3D sheet metal components and large-scale assemblies (150+ BOM items)Create wiring diagrams including PLCs, relays, breakers, and control componentsProduce and interpret technical drawings including one-line diagrams, layouts, and front viewsCollaborate with manufacturing, engineering teams, and external vendors to ensure design accuracySupport the full design lifecycle, ensuring adherence to internal standards and processesMentor and guide junior engineers as neededQualifications:Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)4–8 years of experience in designing switchboards, panelboards, or similar power distribution systemsStrong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk preferred)Solid understanding of electrical systems and componentsStrong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionallyPreferred: Experience with UL891, UL67, UL508A, or UL1558 standardsFamiliarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)Experience sizing conductors and overcurrent protection devices (OCPDs)Knowledge of control circuits and electrical logic systems
