Job Description Position Name: Senior Specialist, Shipping and ReceivingIf you would like to know a bit more about this opportunity, or are considering applying, then please read the following job information.DepartmentWarehouse & LogisticsLocationHouston, TX (77032)Reporting To: Manager, Warehouse & LogisticsJob Overview:The Senior Specialist, Shipping and Receiving, is responsible for independently executing, coordinating, and monitoring inbound and outbound global shipments in compliance with applicable customs regulations, global standards, and dangerous goods shipment requirements. This role also involves evaluating transportation carriers based on cost, quality, and efficiency to optimize shipping operations. The position serves as the primary point of contact for all shipping and receiving-related activities within the organization.Key Responsibilities:• Coordinate and monitor domestic and international shipments while ensuring compliance with customs regulations and dangerous goods transportation standards• Manage goods receipt postings within ERP systems and coordinate material deliveries• Verify and approve shipping invoices and tax bills for finance processing• Organize transportation packaging and rental equipment for loading and unloading operations• Manage import/export customs documentation, including Export Control, Carnet A.T.A., and Certificates of Origin• Support process improvement initiatives within Shipping and Receiving operations• Handle shipment claims, delays, and vendor communication regarding transportation issues• Support internal departments with shipment planning, pricing, and logistics expertise• Conduct annual negotiations with parcel service providers to optimize transportation cost and qualityKnowledge and Competencies:• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a solutions-oriented mindset• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills within cross-functional environments• Customer-focused approach with strong communication skills• High level of accountability, ownership, and safety awareness• Ability to work effectively in culturally diverse and international environmentsQualifications / Education:• Vocational training, apprenticeship, or related education in Logistics, Shipping & Receiving, or a related field• Certification in customs and foreign trade• Certification in transportation of dangerous goods (ground, ocean, and air)• Forklift and overhead crane operation certification requiredExperience Required:• Minimum 6 years of experience in Shipping and Receiving operations• Minimum 6 years of experience handling customs clearances and Carnet ATA documentation• Minimum 2 years of experience in export control, embargo screening, and dual-use regulations• Experience in claim management, shipping liability, and insurance processes• Experience xhyhwjd mentoring team members and supporting continuous improvement initiatives• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and local language preferred• Experience working in international and multicultural environments is preferredSoftware / Technology / Equipment:• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP• Advanced knowledge of courier systems including UPS, FedEx, and DHL• Experience with customs applications and online shipping systemsWork Environment:• Warehouse and shop/field work environment• Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions• Exposure to mechanical and environmental noise• Occasional domestic and international travel may be required• Frequent lifting of materials up to 50 lbs. and operation of warehouse equipment
