Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesReading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a projectSourcing the materials to be used in the projectMeasuring and cutting materials to specificationsWelding materials using the correct materials to join the metals togetherChecking finished work to make sure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprintsAble to pass various welding certification testsWorks with conventional and precision measuring instrumentsPerforms process inspection, certification, and documentationMaintains welding equipment through maintenance activitiesGrinding And FinishingSkilled at grindingFinishes product through us of various manual and power grinding toolsPerforms routine maintenance on grinding equipmentEducationPreferred and Required Qualification:Preferred - High School / GEDRequired – Completion of Vocational school / Machine Trade school weldingcourseJob Skills And AbilitiesPossess the practical / technical knowledge required to perform the jobBasic math ability and understanding of mechanical principles used in sheetmetal fabricationMechanical abilityAbility to use measuring instruments to produce parts within decimalJob Skills And Abilities ContinuedMust be able to do conversion to and from metricGeneral understanding of production, work process and operations Demonstrates proper decision-making skills when neededBehavior TraitsIndependence/ Reliability – Performs work with little or no supervision and can be trusted regarding task completion and follow-up.Creativity/ Initiative – Propose ideas, find new and better ways of doing things, seek out new assignments and assume additional duties when necessary.Adherence to Policy – Follow safety and conduct rules and other regulations.
