Compensation
The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $73,920 - $97,885. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.
Electrical Engineer I
The Electrical Engineer I supports the development efforts on projects aimed at electrical design for upgrading and automating existing product lines. This role is focused on learning existing product lines, capabilities, and supporting design tasks and gaining exposure to electrical engineering tools and processes. The candidate will be responsible for contributing to project engineering efforts, electrical design, and electrical assessment to meet Retrofit requirements. The candidate will report to the Manager of Custom Engineering Retrofits in the Power Systems Solutions department.
Key Responsibilities
Research & Technology: Gain familiarity with CAT (Category) ratings and electrical safety standards. Work to fully understand electrical design of S&C products.
Product Support: Support Senior Engineers as they resolve issues related to products in the field with addition of automation capabilities. Support may include resolving automation issues, new product development support, and other day‑to‑day Electrical Engineering needs related to S&C products.
Design & Application: Assist in basic design tasks, including wire diagrams, interconnection diagrams and Schematics. Apply existing procedures to support design and contribute to documentation under guidance. Develop familiarity with product structure and capabilities.
Testing & Analysis: Learn how to process and support automation requirements. Participate in hands‑on activities with guidance to develop practical engineering skills.
Technical Growth: Learn the structure, function, and capabilities of electrical products, with a focus on Metal Enclosed Switch gear, Vista Products and Padmounted Gear. Understand how components interact and contribute to overall system performance. Acquire a foundational understanding of electrical products and their performance characteristics.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with senior engineers and cross‑functional teams. Participate in team meetings, presentations, field verifications, Vista Grow support and contribute to a collaborative engineering environment.
Project Support: Provide support for project planning and coordination activities. Collaborate with engineers, contribute to project deliverables, and support project management activities.
Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and rules.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Attend in‑person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
0‑2 Years of experience in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
Basic understanding of electrical circuit design and programming.
Preliminary skills in effective problem‑solving and able to communicate across some levels of the organization related to concepts of supply chain, production, and electronics.
A basic understanding of various manufacturing technologies and methods, preferably within the electronics manufacturing industry.
Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
Great communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation), able to partner with and communicate with customers, both technical and non‑technical.
Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
Good organizational planning, coordinating internal and external resources, and juggling key demands.
Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed actions, solve complex problems, and drive learning.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines, including the flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.
Great computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Power BI, or other similar systems. Including great data analysis skills.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Familiarity with electrical power generation and distribution.
Basic knowledge of CAD software; Solid Edge, MicroStation and Zuken.
