Infection Preventionist
Job Summary:
Intersect Healthcare of Greenville is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Infection Preventionist to join our team of healthcare professionals. As an Infection Preventionist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of infection control and prevention throughout our 100-bed sub-acute rehabilitation facility. Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain infection control and prevention programs consistent with national standards and regulatory requirements
Conduct risk assessments and surveillance activities to identify potential infection control issues
Investigate and resolve infection control incidents, including outbreaks and hospital-acquired infections
Collaborate with healthcare staff to develop and implement effective infection prevention strategies
Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention and control measures
Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and protocols related to infection control and prevention
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to reduce hospital-acquired infections and improve patient outcomes
Monitor and report infection rates and other relevant data to regulatory agencies and senior leadership
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
The IP must be professionally trained in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or other related fields.
These may include:
a. A professionally trained nurse with a certificate/diploma or degree in nursing. b. A professionally trained medical technologist (also known as a clinical laboratory scientist) that has earned at least an associate degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science.
c. A professionally trained microbiologist that has earned at least a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. d. A professionally trained epidemiologist that has earned at least a bachelor’s degree in epidemiology. e. Other related professions of training include physicians, pharmacists, and physician’s assistants
1-2 years of experience in infection prevention or a related field preferred
Strong knowledge of infection control principles and practices
Excellent communication, education, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
