Job Title: Database Developer Department: Information Technology Reports To: Manager, Database Administrator and Business Intelligence FLSA: Exempt Status: Full-Time Salary: $130,000 ABOUT CONTRACT SERVICES: In the mid-1960s, the major film studios, in negotiations with Hollywood’s unions, founded the non-profit Contract Services Administration Trust Fund (CSATF) and later added Contract Services Administration Training Trust Fund (CSATTF), now collectively referred to as Contract Services (CS). CS carries out an extensive list of contractual, legal, and regulatory obligations that must be implemented on behalf of the studios, especially with respect to certain requirements of the collective bargaining agreements that apply to a freelance union workforce of more than 50,000 production workers in the greater Los Angeles area. These services include administering seniority rosters, operating safety training and apprenticeship programs, administering a drug and alcohol testing program that applies to commercial drivers working in the motion picture industry, and implementing many other industry-wide services, studies and/or education on behalf of the motion picture production industry. JOB SUMMARY: Contract Services seeks a highly skilled Database Developer to join our IT team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our systems through the designing, implementing, and maintaining of database solutions. Our organization’s is moving towards a data-centric approach in decision making. This will require the IT team to build out the services to allow users to easily and quickly access data from disparate sources. To be successful in this role you need to be able to collaborate with team members to create solutions that meet the business goals of the company through optimized processes and implementations. As we are migrating off legacy systems, you will be tasked with understanding how existing databases work and provide your feedback on future implementations. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with internal team members to maintain current systems. Assist in troubleshooting efforts as needed. Develop, review, and test SQL code that fulfills functional requirements. Assist in the execution of database tasks and contribute to the optimization of tasks where appropriate. Extract data from source systems for analysis and clean-up. Assist in efforts related to migrating data to the Salesforce platform. Develop BI reports and dashboards, along with supporting data models and pipelines to refresh data. Write and review SQL queries on an ad-hoc reporting basis. Create and schedule automated reports as needed. Undertake special assignments and projects as directed by the Manager of Database Administration and Business Intelligence and the Senior Manager, Software Engineering. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS: Core Skills: Experience with designing, developing, and deploying database solutions in production and non-production environments. Experience with updating database schema (tables, functions, triggers, views, etc.). Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical team members. Experience working with SQL IDE’s in a Windows environment. Experience with Salesforce development tools (Data Loader, Workbench, Salesforce Inspector, etc.). Experience with establishing ETL processes and data pipelines. Experience working in an Agile environment. Ability to write and review complex SQL queries. Comfortability working with Microsoft and Atlassian product suite. Overall understanding of API’s and data integrations between internal and external systems. Knowledge of business intelligence concepts and platforms. Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies. Document database designs, processes, and procedures. Skill Pluses: Experience in cloud infrastructure platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS). A creative problem-solver with the ability to turn product requirements into solutions. Familiarity with the TV/Movie production industry. Personality: Positive mental attitude, strong work ethic, self-motivated, and highly organized. A proactive attitude to platform enhancements. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team on multiple projects and priorities. Engagement: Active participant in company culture. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : Education BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Experience Required 3+ years of professional experience as a SQL Developer or data Engineer. Required 2+ years of professional experience in troubleshooting SQL related task and resolving performance issue. Linux, Postgres, and other open-source software knowledge with AWS services is preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS: This position is remote.
