Role: Senior Cloud Platform Engineer (GCP)Location: Kansas City preferred Chicago, IL (Onsite)Type: ContractSchedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/weekVisa: GC or Citizen, H1B TransferAbout the RoleWe’re seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to help design, build, secure, and optimize modern infrastructure platforms. This role is hands‑on and highly technical, ideal for someone who loves automation, cloud engineering, and solving complex infrastructure challenges.You’ll work across engineering, security, and operations teams to build scalable, secure systems while driving modern DevOps practices and cloud automation.What You’ll DoDesign, build, and deploy infrastructure and network solutions in a cloud environment.Develop automation using Terraform, Pulumi, Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar tools.Work within Git workflows for code reviews, versioning, and releases.Build and support CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling.Deploy and maintain containerized workloads.Monitor systems for performance, security, and compliance.Investigate outages and resolve complex technical issues.Participate in incident response and implement remediation.Analyze security alerts and prevent potential threats.Update documentation for systems, network diagrams, processes, and runbooks.Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.What You BringBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in infrastructure engineering.Experience building cloud infrastructure in GCP.Experience with Terraform or Pulumi (preferred).Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Go, etc.).Knowledge of networking: TCP/IP, DNS, certificates.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern DevOps tooling.Experience deploying and supporting containerized workloads.Understanding of security practices, vulnerability management, and remediation.Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and attention to detail.Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical teams.Why This Role Will Move FastSenior‑level role in a cloud‑focused environmentModern tech stack (GCP + IaC + DevOps)High visibility with engineering and security partnersOnsite work with a collaborative team------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Required Experience & Technical ExpectationsCloudMust have spent 51%+ of time in GCP in recent yearsStrong understanding of:IAMGCP operationsGCP quirks/idiosyncrasiesNetworking fundamentalsNot looking for:90% AWS / 10% GCPVM-only engineersTraditional network engineersInfrastructure as CodePreferred: Terraform, TofuAcceptable (with strong conceptual foundation): Pulumi, CrossplaneScripting & ToolingBash or Python requiredFamiliar with:Source controlIaaSTicketing workflowsAgile methodologiesWork TypesBigQuery usageData movement & pipelinesSupporting cross-functional engineering teamsContainerized application support requiredInfrastructure engineers must think like developersInterview ProcessStep 1 – 30‑Minute Phone ScreenConducted by the technical teamConfirms skills, GCP experience, and resume alignmentStep 2 – 60‑Minute Onsite (Virtual for Chicago)With:Technical team leadA data engineering representativeAnother technical contributor
