Prototype Vehicle Fabricator/ Assembler We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Prototype Vehicle Fabricator/ Assembler to support the development, fabrication, assembly, and refinement of concept, prototype, specialty, and low-volume vehicles. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, fabrication skills, and the ability to work from CAD models, engineering drawings, sketches, and verbal direction in a fast-paced advanced vehicle development environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about automotive craftsmanship, thrives in a prototype environment, and can adapt quickly to changing engineering requirements and build schedules. Responsibilities: Fabricate, modify, and assemble prototype vehicle components and systems. Perform vehicle teardowns, mock-ups, and complete prototype builds. Install and fit: Body panels Interior components Chassis systems Powertrain components Electrical harnesses Suspension and brake systems Execute precision fitting, trimming, drilling, cutting, grinding, and finishing operations. Support concept vehicle, show vehicle, EV, and specialty vehicle programs. Fabrication & Shop Operations Operate fabrication equipment including: MIG/TIG welders Plasma cutters Tube benders Grinders and sanders Drill presses Hand and power tools Fabricate brackets, mounts, fixtures, and custom prototype components. Work with materials including: Aluminum Steel Stainless steel Plastics/composites Carbon fiber components Assist with jig and fixture setup for prototype builds. Engineering & Development Support Interpret: CAD data Engineering drawings Build specifications BOMs Prototype change requests Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and program management teams. Identify build issues and provide practical fabrication and assembly solutions. Support vehicle troubleshooting, debugging, and system validation activities. Quality & Safety Maintain high-quality craftsmanship standards and attention to detail. Ensure builds meet engineering intent and timing requirements. Follow shop safety procedures and maintain organized work areas. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the prototype shop. Requirements: 3+ years of automotive fabrication, assembly, motorsports, prototype, restoration, or specialty vehicle experience. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on fabrication skills. Experience using shop fabrication equipment and automotive tools. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly instructions. Experience fitting and modifying prototype components. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver's license. Preferred: Prototype or concept vehicle build experience. Experience with low-volume or specialty vehicle manufacturing. TIG welding certification or advanced welding skills. Experience with EV platforms and high-voltage systems. Familiarity with CAD software and digital build data. Motorsports, custom vehicle, or OEM prototype shop experience. ASE certifications are a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work around vehicles for extended periods.
