Job Summary Heritage High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Physical Education Teacher to join our team in a full-time capacity. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a lifelong appreciation for physical fitness and healthy living. This role requires a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. The Physical Education Teacher will design and implement engaging curriculum and activities that promote physical, social, and emotional well-being. Responsibilities - Develop and deliver comprehensive physical education programs that align with state standards and school goals. - Create lesson plans that encourage participation, skill development, and teamwork among students. - Assess student performance and progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them improve. - Foster a safe environment that promotes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship. - Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, including sports teams and fitness clubs. - Collaborate with other educators and staff to integrate physical education with other academic subjects. - Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and program initiatives. - Stay current with developments in physical education, health, and wellness to enhance curriculum and teaching practices. - Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to school-wide initiatives. - Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and accessible for all students. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field. - Valid state teaching certification or license in Physical Education for secondary education. - Previous experience teaching physical education at the middle school level preferred. - Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum, teaching strategies, and assessment methods. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. - Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community. - Passion for promoting health, fitness, and well-being among students. - First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Preferred -Health Certificate Pursuant to Public Act 68 of 1993 and Public Act 83 of 1995, selected new employees shall submit to fingerprints and a criminal background check at the employee's expense. COMPENSATIONApproximately 185 workdays (August-June)Compensation per Saginaw Township Education Association (STEA) collective bargaining agreement:$46,041 starting salary (Bachelor's, no experience)$53,882 starting salary (Master's, no experience)Contract through July 31, 2027Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits available PHYSICAL DEMANDS The position may require bending, reaching, twisting, pushing or pulling items, lifting or carrying materials up to approximately 40 pounds, and standing and/or walking for extended periods during the workday.
