Maintenance Engineer
Role: Maintenance EngineerLocation: Tonawanda, NY (about 25 minutes outside Buffalo)Duration: 12 monthsYou will be responsible for:Perform hands-on installation, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of freeze dryers and related life sciences equipmentExecute corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance with a focus on lyophilization systemsConduct temperature mapping studies for freeze dryers and associated systemsPerform I/O checks, including simulation of physical and electrical signals to verify system functionalityExecute calibration of instrumentation loops, including temperature, pressure, and vacuum systemsTroubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and PLC/control system issues directly on equipmentCarry out on-site repair, adjustment, and fault isolation activities with minimal supervisionSupport equipment start-up, functional testing, and performance verificationPrepare customer sites for installation, including equipment assembly and readiness activitiesAbout you:Proven hands-on experience with lyophilization (freeze dryer) equipment in a pharma, biotech, or life sciences settingStrong background in electro-mechanical maintenance and field service workDemonstrated ability to independently perform:Temperature mappingI/O checks (signal simulation)Instrumentation loop calibration (temperature, pressure, vacuum)Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, and SAT activities (execution-focused, not documentation-heavy)Solid understanding of:Mechanical and electrical systemsPLC-controlled equipment and basic controls troubleshootingFault finding and root cause analysisAbility and willingness to work fully on-site and in the field, including physical work on equipmentComfortable operating autonomously with minimal oversight while interfacing directly with customers
