Accountant - Central Specialty Pet (Hybrid)

Description The Accountant supports the financial operations of the Central Avian and C&S teams and serves as an integral member of the Finance organization. This role is responsible for general ledger activities and month‑end close processes, including preparing journal entries, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with both internal and external financial reporting. *Hybrid work schedule*POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries and support for non-recurring or technically complex accounting transactions.Perform account reconciliations and complete analytical reviews of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure the accuracy and validity of transactions.Records fixed asset additions and retirements in the fixed asset module. Coordinate and oversee periodic physical inventories of fixed assetsRoute CARs, establish Internal Orders, and track job/project costs for construction‑in‑progress (CIP) accounts; collaborate with Project Managers to resolve spending‑related questions.Maintain lease tracking Prepare monthly financial statements along with supporting analyses, schedules, and management reports.Advise management on process improvements and/or alternative accounting treatment.Complete special projects and ad‑hoc analyses as assigned by management.Provide support during external audits and SOX compliance reviews.Assist in developing, implementing, and documenting accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTESBachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience4-6 years’ experience in general accounting; manufacturing industry a plusFluent in MS Office with advanced Excel skills, experience in SAP, Ceridian, or comparable system strongly preferredAbility to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to analyze and problem solve, work independently, and handle a variety of tasksStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsHigh customer service orientation with a continuous improvement mindsetAbility to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.WORKING CONDITIONSWork primarily in a climate-controlled office environment with periodic trips into the production facility.Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting, and frequent near vision used for reading and computer use.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
