Part-Time Controller

Phileo Shared Services is seeking a part-time Controller to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for our partner Christian schools. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in financial management, attention to detail, and a heart for Christian education. The Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, implementing and maintaining strong internal controls, and supervising finance-related part time support staff. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will be a key member of the Phileo Shared Services team. This is a remote position with occasional in-person meetings in the greater Philadelphia region.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial OversightManage daily accounting functions including general ledger, tuition management, accounts payable/receivable, and payrollEnsure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processesMaintain and enforce proper internal controls and compliance practicesReporting & AnalysisPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for partner schoolsAssist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecastsAnalyze financial performance and provide strategic insight to school leadershipSupervision & SystemsSupervise and support finance staff Oversee the effective use of accounting softwareEnsure consistency in financial processes and reporting Collaboration & Mission AlignmentWork closely with the CFO to maintain financial integrity and mission alignmentServe as a financial advisor to school leadershipChampion the financial sustainability of Christ-centered educationQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting/financial management (nonprofit or school experience a plus)Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controlsProficiency with accounting software Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experienceHigh attention to detail, integrity, and discretionStrong interpersonal and communication skillsPersonal commitment to Jesus Christ and solid understanding of the Word of God.
