Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Technical Computing Architect (Senior or Lead) to join our Mission Operations team in Herndon, VA.Our team focuses on delivering complex solutions in some of the most challenging environments on Earth. We provide support for our Mission Operations Portfolio area which design, build, test, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers.The Technical Lead/Solutions Architect will provide hands-on technical leadership of a multi-disciplinary team of Software Engineers, DevOps engineers, Systems Engineers, and System Administrators. The Technical Lead/Solutions Architect will create new solutions to hard technical problems and provide system support using best practices with modern and innovative tooling. The Technical Lead/Solutions Architect will also support the design, validation and configuration management of computing systems, both on premises and in the cloud.Position ResponsibilitiesPromote and lead implementation of the overall program's technical vision, in partnership with the Portfolio Chief EngineerPromote the established Portfolio's engineering processes and best practicesEnsure consistent design and implementation across featuresBe responsible for coordination and documentation of the epics, tasks, and sub-tasks documented in JiraHelp resolve the hardest technical issues and document the debugging steps and solutionsBe responsible for project design, implementation, testing, training and deploymentSupport Project and Program Management, in partnership with the Portfolio Chief EngineerStaying up to date with the latest technologies, industry trends, and security practices, and continuously improving skills and knowledgeRequired ExperiencesExperience managing and maintaining cloud environments, servers, workstations, related infrastructure components, and software systemsIn-depth knowledge and experience with networking, cloud, software, and various versions of Windows and Linux ServersExperience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core system/network servicesAdvanced troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities and able to diagnose and resolve complex technical issuesStrong knowledge of security best practicesFamiliarity with on-premises virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, ProxMox, and/or AHVBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance and current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical fieldLevel 4: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience8+ years of experience in Software, Solutions Architect, Cloud Engineering, and/or Systems AdministrationStrong knowledge of systems, architecture principles and methodologiesExperience with hardware/software integration and system designFamiliarity with computing platforms, operating systems, and networking conceptsProficiency in relevant programming or scripting languagesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsUnderstanding of security principles and compliance requirements related to system architecturePreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)Level 5: 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExpertise in on-premises virtualization (AHV, VMWare ESXi, Hyper-V, etc.) and/or cloud expertise (AWS or Azure)Experience with documenting technical details in Confluence and task tracking in JiraCloud, INFOSEC, and/or any recent IT certifications Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.Pay & BenefitsAt Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
