Medical Laboratory Technologist

Position Summary: The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for performing routine and complex laboratory testing with accuracy and efficiency, supporting patient diagnosis and treatment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy, blood bank testing, and microbiology techniques, while maintaining compliance with laboratory safety standards and infection control protocols. Key Responsibilities: Perform blood bank testing and ensure accurate results in a timely manner. Conduct microbiology procedures including gram stains, planting cultures, and blood cultures (microbiology specialty preferred). Collect and process specimens, ensuring quality and compliance with lab standards. Perform phlebotomy procedures with proficiency and accuracy. Apply and follow all COVID-19 safety protocols, including appropriate use of PPE and working in isolation environments. Prioritize and multitask laboratory duties efficiently to support patient care. Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining effective communication with the healthcare team. Participate in rotating holiday coverage as scheduled. Accurately document and report test results in compliance with laboratory regulations and standards. Qualifications: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or equivalent education. ASCP or AMT certification preferred. Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood bank testing required. Experience in microbiology highly preferred; if not, must be skilled in gram stains, culture planting, and blood culture techniques. Strong knowledge of infection control and COVID-19 safety protocols. Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
