Location: GPC HQ ( Atlanta, GA ) or APC HQ ( Birmingham, AL) - 4 days OnsiteDepartment Name: Technology OrganizationGrade Level(s): Exempt 05, Exempt 06Role OverviewThe Technology Organization’s Customer Engagement portfolio is seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst to support customer-facing web applications, internal tools, and APIs/middleware, including platforms such as the Property Manager Portal.This role is embedded within agile scrum teams and is responsible for ensuring high-quality software delivery through a combination of manual testing, test automation, and proactive quality practices. Successful candidates bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence quality outcomes through early engagement and clear communication.This is a hybrid position with an expectation of working onsite (Atlanta or Birmingham) four days per week, with one remote day.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform as an embedded QA member within a SAFe Agile framework, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, PI objectives, and team-level quality outcomes  Design, execute, and document manual test cases for customer-facing web applications, internal tools, and APIs/middlewareDevelop, maintain, and execute automated tests as part of an established automation frameworkPartner with Product Owners and Developers during backlog grooming and refinement to clarify requirements and define acceptance criteriaPerform regression testing, release validation, and UAT support for production deploymentsLog, track, troubleshoot, and clearly document defects with sufficient detail to support efficient resolutionValidate data integrity and mine test data using SQL queries as part of functional and integration testingMaintain testing artifacts and evidence to support traceability and quality validationCommunicate testing progress, risks, and quality concerns clearly and proactivelyContribute to continuous improvement of testing practices, tools, and processesTools & Technologies Agile & Work Management : SAFe Agile framework, Jira Test Management : Xray integrated with Jira is a plus Test Automation: Tricentis Tosca is a plus API Testing: Postman is a plus Databases: SQL for data validation Testing Focus: Balanced manual and automated testing, incremental automation, regression and release validationQualificationsBachelor’s degree preferred, with emphasis in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related technology field2+ years of experience testing web applications and APIsExperience with structured software testing methodologiesExperience with automated regression testing and application quality management toolsExperience writing or reviewing SQL queries for data validationExperience working with Oracle Utilities Customer to Meter (C2M) is a plusExperience working in Agile/Scrum environments, SAFe experience is a plus CertificationsTricentis Tosca certifications (AS1 and AS2) preferred Knowledge, Skills & AttributesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProactive quality mindset — identifies gaps and risks earlyMeticulous attention to detail and documentationAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesComfortable working independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teamsUnderstanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile processesOther RequirementsOccasional night or weekend work may be required during releasesOccasional travel may be requiredAbout Southern CompanySouthern Company (NYSE: SO ) is a leading energy provider serving 9 million customers across the Southeast and beyond through its family of companies.
