Correctional Facility ManagerLeads the operation and administration of a correctional institution or unit. Develops and implements appropriate security and facility policies and procedures. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff. Will manage large numbers of agency staff or have large scope of responsibility within agency.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Direct and personally monitor state prison security functions and activities to maintain the custody and security of prisonersIdentify training needs and provide guidance and training to correctional staff Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges corrections employeesManage human resources and direct administrative activities for corrections staffManage the operations and activities of correctional facilities and detention centersMonitor budget activities of correctional facilitiesMonitor, inspect, and evaluate operations, programs, services, activities, and conditionsOversee and/or conduct inspections, searches, investigations, and evaluationsPerform crisis response, containment, and intervention in emergenciesPlan, implement, direct, and coordinate various correctional programs and activitiesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of directly job-related experience in criminal justice or correctional system, two (2) years of which with management experience.Or four (4) years of supervisory custodial experience in a criminal justice or correctional system, two (2) years of which at a level equivalent to a manager in a law enforcement setting.Or four (4) years of directly related experience in a criminal justice or correctional system, eighteen (18) months of which experience is required at the lower level Mgr, Correctional Administration (PSM080) or position equivalent.Benefits:In addition to a competitive salary & benefits, GA Department of Juvenile Justice is part of a statewide initiative called Total Rewards that seeks to attract and retain employees by supplementing their base pay and benefits with programs designed to improve the quality of their work environment and lead to greater job satisfaction and work/life balance.
