A great opportunity for students looking to make extra money over the summer.The BMD Operator Assistant role is a support position that works with the BMD Operator to run and maintain the BMD molding line. In this role you will collaborate with other Operator Assistants to ensure that production needs are met. The role offers the opportunity to cross trained in all areas including but not limited to: setting cores, pattern exchange, hauling iron, driving a forklift and maintaining the line. The ideal candidate will be someone that is interested in a variety of duties and possesses ability to adapt to an ever changing environment.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Practice high level of safety at all timesOperate BMD molding machineHaul IronRead and understand core set instructionWork with molten ironOperate 10 ton monorail hoist to transport molten ironOperate 50 ton holding furnaceMaintain furnaces and ladlesPour molten ironBasic computer useLift cores up to 50 lbs. every 20 secondsResponsible for machine lock out/tag outOperate forklift as neededRotate in and out of (6) different positions in the departmentUnload racks of coresInspect cores and moldsMonitor patterns for stickersOperate balancer for cores over 50 lbs.Sweep and shovel sandOperate large air hammerUse air tools, grinders, and basic hand toolsRead and interpret process sheetsEducation/Experience Requirements:No previous experience requiredNo educational requirementsMust be physically able to stand for long periods of timeMust actively engage in safe working practicesMust be able to tolerate warm working conditions and a loud environmentMust be comfortable working in small spacesMust be comfortable working directly with molten ironAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Must be at least 18 years old to applyShifts:Must be available to work 8-12 hour shiftsOpportunity for over time / voluntary 12 hour shiftsTypical shift hours; Monday - Thursday, occasional Fridays1st shift: 5:00 am 3:00 pm, 2nd shift 3:00 pm 1:00 AM, hours may varyPay rate:Base pay rate of $26.51, 2nd shift premium: $1.50, 3rd shift premium: $1.00Base rates increase $1/hour upon successful completion of probation (60 working days)Neenah Foundry Company is an equal opportunity employer.
