About The RoleShopify's Revenue Data team is the analytical backbone of our commercial organization. We work directly with Sales, Marketing, and Finance leadership to answer the questions that shape how Shopify grows - where the pipeline is strong, where it's leaking, what's driving bookings, and where the next dollar of revenue comes from. This is not a reporting role. This is a seat at the table where commercial strategy gets made.We're looking for a Staff Business Analyst who can operate at the intersection of data, business strategy, and executive communication - someone who sees a trend in the numbers and knows what to do about it before anyone asks.What You'll DoOwn end-to-end analytics across Shopify's commercial engine - pipeline health, ARR and bookings performance, sales productivity, marketing attribution, and GTM strategyServe as a strategic thought partner to commercial leadership, proactively surfacing growth opportunities and diagnosing performance gaps before they become problemsTranslate complex revenue data into clear, actionable narratives that drive decisions at the executive level - not just presenting findings, but recommending what to do nextLead high-stakes analytical projects from scoping through delivery, aligning cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Finance, RevOps) and driving measurable outcomesBuild scalable reporting and analysis frameworks that replace one-off requests with durable, self-serve infrastructureHelp commercial teams become sharper consumers of data - making it easier for partners to find answers without always coming to usWhat You Bring8+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or a related field, with significant time spent supporting commercial or revenue functionsStructured problem-solving skills - you can take an ambiguous business question, break it into analytical components, and deliver a recommendation, not just a dashboardExceptional data storytelling - you build narratives that simplify complexity, land with executive audiences, and drive actionDeep commercial acumen - you understand pipeline mechanics, revenue recognition, sales motions, and marketing funnels well enough to challenge the data, not just query itExpert-level SQL for complex analysis and workflow optimizationStrong visualization skills - experience building high-impact dashboards in Looker or similar toolsApplied knowledge of statistical methods (regression, hypothesis testing, forecasting) and the judgment to know when they're the right tool vs. overkillThe ability to context-switch between long-term strategic projects and high-priority requests without dropping quality on eitherNice to HaveExperience in Ecommerce, SaaS, or platform businesses - understanding how these commercial models work gives you a significant head startPython proficiency for statistical modeling, automation, or data pipeline workExperience operating at or presenting to the C-suite / VP+ levelYou'll Be Working WithThis role sits within the Data Science & Engineering organization and partners closely with Sales leadership, Marketing, Finance, and Revenue Operations.
