Associate Attorney -Estate and Succession Planning
Overview
Join our team as an Estate and Succession Planning Associate, where you'll advise clients and draft key legal documents in estate planning, estate/gift tax strategies, and business succession. You'll support our partners in delivering top-tier service to high-net-worth individuals and families.
Key Responsibilities
Consult with clients to understand their goals, then draft tailored documents like wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, and business succession plans.
Provide expert guidance on estate, gift, GST, and income tax issues, with a focus on tax-efficient planning, charitable strategies, and transfer taxes.
Handle estate administration, including preparing tax returns (estate, fiduciary income, and gift), advising fiduciaries on settlements, filing probate documents, and representing at hearings.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Deep knowledge of estate planning, estate/gift tax, and business succession.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to break down complex issues and solutions clearly.
Strong organizational, project management, and independent judgment skills; thrives with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in online legal research tools and resources.
Proven ability to build and manage client relationships, plus a track record in business development.
Education and Experience
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Admitted to the Michigan State Bar (or eligible for prompt admission).
Substantial hands-on experience in complex estate planning matters
Competitive salary based on experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
