Supplemental Instructor - Fire Protection Technology

We are seeking our next Part-TimeSupplemental Instructor - Fire Protection Technology whowill be all-in on our mission and who willperform duties primarily related to the instruction of academic/continuing education courses assigned within the fire academy/fire protection technology.QualificationsEDUCATION:Required: TCFP Instructor I Certification.Preferred: TCFP Instructor II Certification or higher, and subject matter expertise.EXPERIENCE:Preferred: Training individuals on TCFP skills and curriculum. Special experience, licenses, certifications, or training related to the topic of instruction.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide supplemental classroom instruction for applicable programs.Perform effective teaching activities, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships.Plan, develop and present organized instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.Complete appropriate administrative paperwork and performance evaluations in a timely manner.Participate in department, division and college meetings as assigned or required.Assume responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and in the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.Demonstrate and maintain competence in the use of instructional technology.Perform other work-related duties as assigned.As an Amarillo College employee seek knowledge of and pledge to actively engage in a culture of caring and striving to serve students, peers, and the community by embracing the AC Core Values of Wow, Family, Fun, Innovation, and Yes!Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to work with and motivate students.Ability to demonstrate excellent teaching skills.Ability to work under stress.Ability to work independently and as a team member.Ability to deal with people in a professional manner.Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrate commitment to student success, innovation, collaboration and instructional quality.Demonstrate and maintain competence in the use of instructional technology.Knowledge in subject matter area.Salary:Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.Pay grade10Amarillo College Pay Grades(salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
