The Upstate South Carolina facility has been in operation at this location since 1952.Job OverviewWe are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant. This team member will provide financial reports, analysis, and investigations to the Controller and SC Steel’s management team; identify opportunities for improvement and areas of financial and operational weakness; manage day-to-day tasks and files; and support management by processing, tracking, and reporting key revenue data and financial information that is vital to our ongoing operations and success.Roles and ResponsibilitiesCreate and manage financial and cost statements and dashboardsComplete audit inquiriesProvide quality assurance for financial and cost reports prior to publishingProvide ad-hoc financial reports and visualizations on an as-needed basisManage the day-to-day tasks of financial transactionsEnter, post, and reconcile Journal Entries to the General LedgerUpdate and reconcile sub-ledgers to the General LedgerAssist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAPMaintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliationSupport the Accounting Manager and the Accounting Department at large through impromptu reporting and special projects when requestedDesired TraitsGeneral knowledge of ERP accounting systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detailStrong analytical skillsTime management and organizational skillsKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesExperience in project-based operations and construction-related revenue recognition modelsAbility to work alone or in teamsAbility to prioritize workExcellent computer skillsExposure to and experience in working with automation techniques is a plusEducation/Training/ExperienceBachelors degree in a an accounting related field and a minimum of two years in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial modelingAdditional ExpectationsSafety – Our basic philosophy is to not take chances – “No amount of personal risk is worth any amount of production.”Quality – Focus on accuracy and precision in financial transactions and accounting reportsEfficiency - Identify areas where processes introduce inefficiencies and work to streamline themCommunication – Be a proactive communicator, identifying weaknesses in financial performance and communicating issues to all levels of the businessEqual Opportunity StatementSC Steel is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
