Berkley Corporation, is one of the largest and best managed property/casualty insurers in the United States.The company is an equal employment opportunity employer.ResponsibilitiesWe have an opportunity for an Underwriting Analyst to join our Berkley Accident and Health team! You will be responsible for the set up of new and renewal prospects for the Captive Underwriters, as well as performing all other necessary functions required to underwrite the prospect and/or renewal. Come join us!Key functions include but are not limited to:Review RFP's and underwriting files to ensure the data is complete and accurateInput employer stop loss characteristics such as benefits, census, large claim information and aggregate claim assessment into David Young systemMaintain quote qualifications and competitive ratesPrepare and distribute renewal letter notificationsParticipate in Captive renewal calls and biweekly Underwriting meetingsMaintain renewal spreadsheet for assigned UnderwritersAbility to manage, maintain and handle assignments as warrantedAccurately document filesSold case preparation and issuance of applicationsQualificationsAssociates/Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience2+ years working in a stop loss environmentExperience and knowledge of David Young Underwriting System or similar systemKnowledge of employer Stop Loss products, including contract terms and RFP data interpretationProven track record of developing, managing and underwriting a profitable block of businessStrong mathematical backgroundAbility to handle large volume of work efficiently and correctly with limited errorsExcellent communication skills with internal and external customersAbility to be productive independently, yet work in a team environmentStrong organizational, planning, and time management skillsCreativity and problem-solving skills a plusAdditional Company DetailsWe do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting firms. The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including: Base Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus Benefits include: Health, dental, vision, dental, life, disability, wellness, paid time off, 401(k) and profit-sharing plans The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
