Staff Psychiatrist - Clarks Summit State Hospital
As a Staff Psychiatrist with the Department of Human Services, you will provide expert psychiatric care at Clarks Summit State Hospital. You will shape treatment plans and work closely with staff, patients, and families in a supportive environment where your leadership matters. Your commitment will help patients move toward healthier and more stable lives.
Responsibilities
Patient Evaluation: Perform psychiatric examinations and establish appropriate diagnoses.
Treatment Planning: Make unit rounds daily and develop individualized care plans.
Clinical Documentation: Prepare reports, progress notes, and treatment updates.
Emergency Response: Provide direction and management during medical emergencies.
Family Communication: Discuss treatment needs with patients and families to support readiness for community living.
Interdisciplinary Coordination: Consult with medical staff and community providers on patient care.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. On‑call shifts may be required during evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Overtime and travel as needed.
Free parking.
Telework: This position does not allow telework.
Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.
Qualifications
Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry that meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
License to practice medicine in Pennsylvania issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
Ability to perform essential job functions.

Conditional offer of employment requires a medical examination and drug screening.
This position is covered by the Older Adult Protective Services Act, requiring submission of satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police and FBI clearance.
