The Assembly Lead is responsible for overseeing daily assembly operations to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, accurately, and to quality standards. This role trains and assists team members, troubleshoots assembly and equipment issues, and coordinates with maintenance, shipping, inventory, and other departments to meet production goals and customer deadlines. The Assembly Lead also serves as the department lead in the absence of the Assembly Supervisor while promoting safety, organization, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the department.Join us as an Assembly Lead in beautiful Grand Haven and become a vital part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to manufacturing excellence! If you have a passion for mechanical craftsmanship and thrive in fast-paced settings, we want to hear from you!RequirementsRead and Comprehend instructions and blueprints, as well as follow established procedures.Take precise measurements to ensure perfect fit of components.Select or modify components according to measurements and specifications.Align material and put together parts to build bearings.Check output to ensure the highest quality.Prioritize orders according to due date, quantities, etc. Understand job timelines and estimate length of time that each job should take an assembler to complete job for scheduling purposes.Report on issues, malfunction, or defective parts.Print out job orders and act accordingly for scheduling purposes.Assist with machine maintenance and work with maintenance department to troubleshoot and fix issues.Set-up hand presses and other machinery as needed.Assist with assembly issues and troubleshoot roadblocks and problems and find solutions to move forward in completing jobs.Understand the wash tank job and function and fill in when needed.Assist with shipping by preparing shipments, packing parts, printing shipping labels and labeling parts, unpacking and examining incoming shipments, routing items to appropriate departments, and other shipping duties assigned by supervisor. Fill in when needed.Assist with inventory department by picking parts, coordinating with various departments to fulfill internal and external orders, assist with inventory audits, other inventory duties assigned by supervisor. Fill in when needed.Understand laser etcher job and fill in when needed.Assume supervisory duties when Assembly Supervisor is absent by leading the department, assigning tasks and responsibilities to team members, monitoring progress of the department and team members, communicating with other departments and Plant Manager as needed, inspecting finished products for quality, enforcing safety protocols and other tasks assigned by supervisor.Training new and current employees on all aspects of the department, including new equipment and safety.Maintains clean work area.Other tasks as assigned.SkillsStrong mechanical aptitude and ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings.Leadership skills with the ability to guide, motivate, and support team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities related to assembly processes, equipment, and production flow.Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple jobs and meet production deadlines.Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members, supervisors, maintenance, shipping, inventory, and other departments.Ability to train and mentor new and existing employees on processes, equipment, and safety procedures.Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, hand tools, presses, and assembly machinery.Basic computer skills for printing job orders, tracking schedules, and completing production documentation.Knowledge of workplace safety standards and ability to enforce safe work practices.Ability to adapt quickly, fill in across multiple department functions, and support changing production needs.Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while leading a team.Good verbal and written communication.Excellent dexterity and hand/eye coordination.Quick learner and able to grasp information given both verbally and written.Positive attitude and willing to help where needed and can work efficiently through distractions.
