Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per day - (Monday - Friday); Leave Replacement needed at the start of the 2026-2027 school year through December 16th, 2026.Reports To: Executive Director of Special Education and Student ServicesSalary: Per Service Employees International Union Local 925 10-Month Employee negotiated salary schedule at https://www.msd25.org/employee-groupsIN-DISTRICT APPLICANTS WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION PRIOR TO SCREENING ANY OUT-OF-DISTRICT APPLICANTS.Account Code: 0100-26-3110-0000-2000-0000-0Position Summary:This position, as part of the Health Services team, will be responsible for advising the district on health and safety issues; drafting school Health Services policies and procedures; consulting with staff, students, families, and community resources; participating on the special education team; and delegating, training, and supervising licensed and unlicensed staff who may perform nursing duties according to the Nurse Practice Act. The position will perform in a supervisory capacity which may include supervision of multiple buildings.Minimum Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalentAssociate's degree or Bachelor's degree in NursingValid Washington State Registered Nurse license to be maintained for duration of this job1st Aid & Adult/Child CPR training (completed within 30 days from date of hire and to be maintained for the duration of this job)Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferredSuccessful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint ClearanceProof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control ActCompletion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire dateDesired Skills:Ability and willingness to delegate, train, and supervise licensed and unlicensed personnelAbility to work with students' health related IEPs and educational IEPsAbility to assess the need for medical care of students and employeesAbility to deal with students in a warm and confident mannerAbility to work effectively with special needs studentsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and familiesAbility to be flexible, prioritize duties, organize activities, and work independentlyAbility to communicate in English tactfully and effectively orally and in writingAbility to operate a computer and district adopted software including Microsoft Office, Gmail, and SkywardKnowledge of Nurse Practice Act as it relates to school nursingKnowledge of current health care practice, nursing techniques, and proceduresEssential Job Functions:This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:Train, Supervise, consult, and oversee the Health Room Assistant and functions of the building's health roomsCoordinate and participate in State mandated screeningResponsible for student immunization compliance according to Washington State RCWsDelegate nursing procedures required for school attendance to both the general education student population and the medically involved population according to Nurse Practice ActCommunicate with parents regarding student health concerns and illnessesSupervise the maintenance of student health recordsNotify and train as needed staff to health concerns of students on a need to know basisGather and assess developmental data, prepare written reports, and participate in various district assessment, evaluation, and problem-solving teams (IEP, SST, 504, etc.)Consult on student placement decisionsDevelop individual health care plans and emergency care plans as supplements to IEP's or 504's.Provide health counseling and referral services to students, families, and staffMake home visits as necessary for the welfare of the studentConfer with building staff on health and safety issuesProvide consultation and follow-up to classroom teacher referralsInvestigate and act on routine health concerns and/or injuriesCommunicate and disseminate information to and from physicians, parents, and other medical staff according to WACs and RCWsParticipate in continuing education classes required to maintain school nursing knowledge and skillsAttend and participate in nursing, health services, and community health related meetingsEnsure school district's compliance with health related State and Federal regulations and district policies and procedures.Develop health related policies and proceduresMaintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hoursProfessionally interact with students, staff, and publicPerform related duties as assignedWork Environment:The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements and must be able to stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, stand for periods of time, and lift. The employee will experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; be required to deal with distraughtand/or angry persons. The environment may expose the employee to a variety of infectious diseases. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.Evaluation:This position shall be evaluated periodically by the Executive Director of Special Education (or designee) pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria.
