Welder - Level TBD
ETC is seeking an experienced Welder II to join our Mazomanie manufacturing team. This hands-on role is responsible for fabricating and welding structural components to print specifications while meeting quality, safety, and productivity standards. The ideal candidate brings strong production welding experience across multiple processes (MIG, Stick, and Flux Core), the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to precision, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced industrial environment.Representative Responsibilities:Fabricates, welds, grinds, cuts, and erects structural metal frames to standards and specificationsOperates cranes to move structural frames and other materials around the shopPlans procedures and selects tools and materials to follow work order to completionSets-up welders for MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux CoreFabricates product by cutting and welding metalsEnsures parts are fabricated to print specificationsMaintains expected productivity output levels and completes assignments as scheduledCompletes paperwork correctly, labels parts per order and forwards the product to the next stationFollows production prioritiesMaintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions irregularities, and continuing needsEnsures product quality meets standards by frequently checking workEnsures quality meets standards by checking measurement and parts are welded to meet the correct orientationSelects the appropriate welding application and performs visual quality checks to ensure welding reflects correct penetrationApplies specified finish through use of proper grinding techniques.Follows ISO proceduresUses appropriate documentation, e.g., ECRs and NCMRs, to identify and communicate issuesAdheres to safety standards at all timesEnsures that safe methods and practices are usedAbides by safety procedures, work practice controls, and OSHA guidelinesWears personal protective equipment when requiredInforms management of any safety concerns when they ariseLearns new tasks, procedures and assemblies as neededListens to, understands and follow instructions while learning new assignmentsRecognizes unusual circumstances and asks intelligent questions when necessaryMaintains a clean and organized work environmentEnsures after task is completed, floor is swept and tools are returned to designated areaMaintains tools regularlyEnsures that machines are cleaned and maintained as scheduledInforms manager or team lead of supply needsShuts welder and gas off at the end of each shiftOther duties as assignedCompletes special projects and requests in a timely and positive fashionMinimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferredFormal one year technical diploma in welding or equivalent work experience3 years production welding experience, structural welding experience preferredProven competency to be able to be certified in:AWS D1.1 3G SMAW CertificationAWS D1.1 1G FCAW CertificationAWS D1.1-08 GMAW CertificationKnowledge of metalwork theoryKnowledge of various welding techniques (TIG, MIG, Stick, Flux Core) and able to adjust equipment to its proper settingStrong welding skillsKnowledge of finish grinding with various types of grindersMechanical AptitudeBasic ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aidsGood organizational skillsGood math skillsBasic English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, etc.Proven ability to understand instructions and follow directionsCompetent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement toolsCommitment to quality and accuracy of work performedDemonstrated ability to effectively implement and respond to changeAble to work at a fast paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes and other appropriate protective equipmentAble to lift, carry, push and or pull up to 50 lbs. frequentlyAble to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of timeAble to Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequentlyAble to read blueprintsAble to use a variety of hand toolsAble to drive Forklift and operate pallet jackAble to work independently and as part of a teamAble to operate overhead cranes
