This position will be responsible for developing programs from engineering drawings and 3D models, supporting machine setups, selecting tooling, and improving machining processes for complex, tight-tolerance components.This is a hands-on programming role that works closely with machinists and shop-floor teams. The ideal candidate can take a part from print or model through programming and production while troubleshooting issues, improving efficiency, and reducing cycle times.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using MastercamProgram both CNC mills and lathesCreate programs from engineering drawings, prints, and 3D modelsReview part requirements and determine the most effective machining approachSelect appropriate tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and cutting strategiesCreate setup sheets, tool lists, and clear instructions for machinistsSupport machine setups, first-piece runs, and new program prove-outsTroubleshoot CNC programs, tooling issues, and machining challenges on the shop floorOptimize existing programs to reduce cycle times and improve tool lifeEnsure parts meet tight tolerances, surface finish requirements, and quality standardsWork closely with machinists to identify opportunities for process improvementCollaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve manufacturability or production issuesRecommend changes to programs, tooling, fixtures, and processes that improve efficiencyMaintain accurate CNC program revisions and manufacturing documentationAssist with continuous improvement efforts throughout the machine shopRequired QualificationsStrong CNC programming experience using MastercamExperience programming both CNC mills and CNC lathesAbility to program directly from prints, engineering drawings, and 3D modelsStrong understanding of CNC machine setups and program prove-outsExperience selecting cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding methodsKnowledge of speeds, feeds, machining strategies, and material removal processesExperience producing complex parts with tight tolerancesAbility to read and interpret GD&T and technical specificationsDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot CNC programs and machining issuesExperience improving processes and reducing machining cycle timesStrong understanding of precision measurement and inspection equipmentAbility to work effectively with machinists, engineers, and production teamsStrong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with multi-axis CNC machiningExperience programming three-axis, four-axis, or five-axis millsExperience with live-tooling or multi-axis lathesFamiliarity with SolidWorks or another 3D CAD platformExperience in a prototype, low-volume, or high-mix manufacturing environmentExperience machining aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, and other engineered materialsTechnical school training, machining apprenticeship, or an associate degreeExperience supporting new product introductions or first-time buildsIdeal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate brings a combination of strong programming expertise and practical shop-floor knowledge.
