Protective Force International, PILB #2687 – K9 Handler Job Description
Must be able to obtain PILB work card prior to hire.
K9 Handler Summary: Protective Force International K9 Handlers are tasked with partnering and supervising dogs that perform detection duties related to drugs, explosives, or other substances. These specially trained dogs sniff out contraband in many locations. K9 Handlers receive additional training to facilitate their duties.
Responsibilities:
Partnering with a trained Firearm/Explosive Detection Canine partner to conduct searches in/at assigned client sites, including corporate buildings, loading docks, delivery vehicles, open areas and/or other situations as needed.
Assist and liaise effectively with the client's security manager, law enforcement agencies, security personnel, and local partners or their representatives.
Be available for incident/emergency response duty, standby duty, and client demonstrations, which includes weekends, holidays, nights and overnights.
Contacting law enforcement in case of emergency.
Maintain network with clients, using excellent customer service.
Promote PFI services and culture.
Participate in client's evacuation procedures.
Requirements:
Previous handler experience and/or education through certified school is required.
Qualified candidates will have also achieved one of the following:
1 years Military service, preferably in a combat deployment
1 years Military K9 handler role with full military handler course
1 years Law enforcement role and completed an accredited Law Enforcement Academy (Municipal/State/Federal)
Municipal or federal correctional officer and attended a fulltime accredited
LE/Corrections Academy (must have enforcement responsibilities)
Preferred Certifications:
Unarmed/Armed PILB work card.
Can have own personal certified firearm/explosives canine.
Willing to be on call status for schedule.
Open availability.
Officers must meet specific client needs/standards.
Expected to be proficient in the use of: Radio, ASP Baton, Handcuffs, Basic Medical Supplies, Taser, Pepper Spray, and Duty Firearm
Active CPR/AED Card (Desired).
At least 21 years of age.
Valid Driver’s License Required.
Reliable Personal Transportation.
Pass a comprehensive criminal background.
Pass PreEmployment Drug Test including Marijuana.
Ability to learn, demonstrate proficiency and effectively use various computer software, to include report writing systems, trespass documentation, and surveillance equipment.
Able to lead and mentor other employees.
Professional appearance and demeanor; trimmed and professional beards are allowed.
Able to effectively communicate in English (read, write, listen, speak).
Pay: $28.00 per hour
