Scientist I, mRNA, Process Development

Overview In this role you will lead development and optimization of mRNA production processes at ElevateBio, guiding scale-up from bench to GMP manufacturing. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to support tech transfer and ensure product quality through analytical characterization. You will contribute to SOPs and technical documents while liaising with clients on project goals. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position at the forefront of mRNA therapeutics. ResponsibilitiesLead development, optimization, and scale-up of mRNA-based processes to achieve target yields and purityCharacterize mRNA samples using analytical techniques (electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, HPLC/UPLC) to ensure quality and consistencyCollaborate with MSAT, analytical development, and external clients to support project goalsSupport business development by contributing to SOWs and proposals for external partners in mRNA therapeuticsCommunicate results and progress to internal stakeholders and external clientsContribute to the development of SOPs and technical documents Key requirementsBS/MS in Microbiology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related field with 8+ years total experienceHands-on mRNA processing experience including IVT and plasmid DNA linearizationKnowledge of downstream mRNA methods (TFF, dT affinity, IEX, RP-HPLC)Experience operating automated chromatography systems (ÄKTA Avant/Pure) and filtration skids (Repligen KrosFlow Kr2i)Strong understanding of tech transfer for mRNA drug substance productionExperience scaling processes from bench to GMP manufacturingcross-functional collaborationeffective communicationproblem-solving orientationin-vitro transcription (IVT)plasmid DNA linearizationTangential Flow Filtration (TFF)
