POOL AND GROUNDS MANAGER

Available with the Parks Department: POSITION: Pool and Grounds Manager LOCATION: Tropicanoe Cove HOURS: Seasonal – 40 hours/week. Includes evenings, weekends and holidays. SALARY: $17.00-$19.00/hour DESCRIPTION: Incumbent serves as Pool and Grounds Manager for Parks and Recreation Department, responsible for the general maintenance and overall cleanliness of the Family Aquatic Center. Supervises subordinate personnel, including delegating work assignments, training, and evaluating employee performance. Maintains grounds through activities such as digging, planting, pruning, weeding, watering, mulching, raking, shoveling and sweeping. Performs general maintenance of Tropicanoe Cove facilities or grounds, performing minor repairs and reporting significant repairs. Manages daily operations in accordance with accepted standards of operation. Supervises and directs assigned personnel, including interviewing applicants, hiring maintaining adequate staffing levels, delegating work assignments, approving work schedules, providing regular in-service training, evaluating performance, resolving problems and terminating as needed. All other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Certification or ability to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid safety. Ability to regularly work extended, weekend and/or evening hours. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers and swimming pool patrons, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities. Knowledge of grounds maintenance and plant materials. Ability to comfortably work around the public, including possession of strong communication skills. Ability to supervise and direct various aspects of pool and grounds personnel, including delegating work assignments, training and evaluating employee performance. Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment, and maintain appropriate, respectful inter- relationships with co-workers. Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.
