Senior Backend (Python) Software Engineer 6+ Months – ContractRemoteJob Description: The Performance Tools team builds frameworks and tools that help engineers measure and improve performance across products. We’re a distributed team based in North America and Europe, supporting both internal engineers and the broader web developer community through tools like the Profiler. In this role, you’ll focus on delivering major improvements to our performance comparison tooling, contributing primarily to backend areas. You’ll work closely with engineers on the team and domain experts, with flexibility in how you approach implementation while meeting the defined acceptance criteria.What you’ll do: • Implement the final statistical techniques for the performance comparison tooling,• following the approved designs and direction from domain experts.• Refactor and optimize result outputs to improve backend architectural integrity and• ensure long-term system maintainability.• Implement expert-driven, specialized improvements to the novel statistical framework as it• evolves.• Contribute to ongoing maintenance by managing updates, fixing bugs, and ensuring high• standards for performance, accessibility, and test coverageWhat you’ll bring: • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, primarily backend development• Proficiency in Python and Django• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL• Familiarity with JavaScript, React, TypeScript, and Material UI• Familiarity with statistical concepts and methods, especially in the context of performance• data analysis• Familiarity with JavaScript charting libraries (such as echarts) for presenting data clearly• Commitment to code quality with attention to performance, accessibility, and test• coverage• Self-directed and capable of managing and prioritising tasks independently• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work optimally in a remote• environmentCommitment to our values: • Welcoming differences• Being relationship-minded• Practicing responsible participation• Having grit
