R&D Engineer

R&D Engineer – Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs)Seeking an experienced and highly technical R&D Engineer with deep expertise in supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), cement chemistry, and concrete technology. This role will lead innovation efforts focused on Activated Ground Glass Pozzolan (AGGP) and advanced low-carbon cementitious materials, supporting the development, optimization, testing, and commercialization of next-generation concrete solutions.The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with concrete mix design, cementitious material characterization, laboratory and field testing, and concrete placement/pouring operations. This position requires a strong understanding of SCM performance mechanisms, durability, particle size distribution, hydration chemistry, and real-world concrete applications.Key responsibilities include:Developing and optimizing SCM formulations and concrete mix designsConducting laboratory and field testing of cementitious materials and concrete systemsLeading performance evaluations including strength development, durability, ASR mitigation, permeability, and sulfate resistanceSupporting concrete pours, pilot projects, and field demonstrationsCollaborating with universities, DOTs, ready-mix producers, precast manufacturers, and industry partnersAnalyzing material chemistry, particle morphology, and performance relationshipsSupporting ASTM testing protocols and technical validation programsDriving innovation in low-carbon concrete technologies and commercialization strategiesThe ideal candidate should have:Advanced knowledge of SCMs, pozzolans, cement chemistry, and concrete materialsExperience working with fly ash, slag, natural pozzolans, or ground glass pozzolansHands-on experience in concrete batching, placement, and testingStrong laboratory and analytical capabilitiesExperience with ASTM standards and cement/concrete performance testingA passion for innovation, sustainability, and industrial decarbonizationThis is a highly collaborative and technical role focused on bringing innovative cementitious technologies from laboratory development to real-world commercial deployment.
