Summer Camp Coordinator - Wizard Camp
Company Description - Brandywine School of Wizardry is in its twenty-third year as part of the Brandywine Learning Center. Our immersive camps allow students to use their imaginations and engage in the magical world around them. We are at 10 different locations this summer throughout Chester County, Montgomery County, Delaware County & Philadelphia County. Our camps run from June 15th through August 15th for children ages 6 to 15.Job Description - The Brandywine School of Wizardry is looking for a Summer Camp Coordinator/Facilitator. This position is the go-to person for all things camp related. This position is both admin and hands-on, Coordinator and at times counselor. It’s a position best suited for a well-organized creative problem solver that excels at implementation and completion of tasks related to the prep and facilitation of Summer Camp. While our main location is in Chester Springs the Camp Coordinator goes to various locations for both set up and facilitation of camp.Job ResponsibilitiesPre-Season: Planning and preparation - The Coordinator/Facilitator is introduced to our camp activities in the pre-season and will work as a team with the director and office manager to prepare for the camp season. While much of the curriculum is written beforehand there will be times when it will need to be adapted from one location to another.Training professors and lead students (dates listed in the hours section)Organizing, scheduling and physical set-up of room & materials at camp locations.Oversee lead student program – applications, training & communications.Prepare and update camp rosters.Communication: sending letter & emails.Coordinate first day check-in each week of camp.Assist with planning, preparing, and facilitating of programs.Marketing - social media for camp promotion & seeks new avenues.In-Season: Facilitation - In-season you will be responsible for organizing counselors and helping with set-up at each location. Prepping materials for class lessons. In some instances, stepping in for counselors and assistants as needed.Coordinate and assist in the transport & set up of materials, lessons, and decorations (must have own car)Stepping in for counselor or assistant as neededTracking teachers & lead student’s performance & managing their daily responsibilities.Offsite location liaison and first point of parent and contractor contactTroubleshoot and manage unforeseen situations and resolve conflicts with a level head in a positive and constructive way.Social media- daily at end of camp day - (upload to the cloud drive as well)Inventory management, replenishment, and delivery managementUpdates and maintains camp staff manuals, archivist/filing.Hours - The list here is a list of schedules where hours will be needed. You'll be working with another coordinator within these times. We are flexible, if there are conflicts in scheduling, talk to us, there is more than one way for a schedule to work. This is a part time position, the hours below just show when things are happening to give you an idea of when hours might be needed.Teacher training - Sat, June 6th from 10-2pm & then Tues, Wed, & Thur, June 9th, 10th and 11th from 4pm-7:30pm each day.Camp Schedule: Monday through Friday - campers’ main hours are 9am-3pm. Camps run in various locations starting June 16th and end with the end of sesason celebration on August 16th.Weekend Set-ups: We are in a total of 10 different locations throughout the summer. The set ups for these camps happen the weekend prior to it starting. Having some weekend availability is a must, though it does not need to be every weekend.AbilitiesLeadership experience – previous camp experience is a plus.Experience working with students ages 6-15 in a structured program.Strong organizational skills – detail oriented and thorough.Exceptional communication skills.Tech Skills: Excel, Word, Google Docs & social media posting.Responsible & Reliable with a growth mindset.Able to lift bins of materials.Ability to work part-time March through May and full-time in the summer.Commitment – ability to grow with us - while we are only asking for this summer we hope to forge a magical working relationship that continues into following summers.Compensation - Contract – starting from $22/hour - based on experience level. Full-time summer contract - (with future opportunities) Monday through Friday. Hours of work are expected to be flexible outside of the camp period.
