DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES
ZAP Solutions is seeking a junior to mid-level Data Engineer / AI Engineer to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone with minimal professional experience but a strong foundation in data concepts and a passion for AI. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow while contributing to our data and AI solutions.
Responsibilities:
Assist in building, maintaining and optimizing data pipelines that process and transform raw data into usable “analysis/AI-ready” formats
Support the implementation and maintenance of machine learning models and AI workflows
Collaborate with sales, account management, software engineers, data engineers, etc. on AI/ML projects
Document data architecture, pipelines, and processes; assist with “scale out” of AI processes
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
REQUIRED SKILLS
Requirements:
1-3 years of closely related experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Basic understanding of machine learning concepts
Basic programming skills in Python (pandas, list comprehension, etc. as well as ML packages)
Familiarity with SQL and database concepts, including feature engineering
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS-preferred, Azure, or GCP)
Soft skills:
Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical collaborators
Project management experience: but also flexibility and composure in the face of quickly changing priorities
Very detail oriented, accurate, and thorough
“Pragmatic excellence” – the ability to deliver high quality work within realistic constraints while avoiding the extremes of rushed, sloppy work or perfectionist delays
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with big data and distributed processing technologies (Spark, Databricks, Snowflake)
Exposure to CI/CD practices and version control (Git), including MLFlow
