Remote (EU/Ukraine ) | Full-time We're hiring on behalf of our client — an international product company building SaaS products, AI-powered solutions, and modern web and mobile applications for global markets.As the company continues to scale, they're investing in a modern data platform that will become the foundation for product analytics, business intelligence, and future AI initiatives. They're looking for a Founding Data Engineer to join the team at an early stage and work directly with the Head of Data.This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership. Rather than inheriting an established platform, you'll help define the architecture, build the core infrastructure, and establish engineering standards that will support the company's next stage of growth.What you'll doBuild the Data PlatformDesign, build, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines integrating product data, payment providers, and third-party APIsArchitect and own the company's cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift)Build reliable orchestration workflows using Airflow, Prefect, or similar toolsOptimize warehouse performance and cost through efficient data modeling and query optimizationEnsure Data Quality & GovernanceDevelop clean, testable transformation layers using dbt or equivalent frameworksDesign a semantic layer that provides consistent business metrics across the organizationImplement data quality testing, monitoring, lineage, and documentationBuild security and governance into the platform, including access controls, PII handling, and privacy-aware data practicesPartner Across Engineering & ProductWork closely with Product and Growth teams to support product analytics, experimentation, subscription metrics, and business reportingCollaborate with software engineers on event tracking, data contracts, and API integrationsPromote DataOps best practices, including CI/CD, version control, testing, and documentation-as-codeTech StackPythonSQLdbtAirflow / PrefectSnowflake / BigQuerySegmentAmplitudeAWS / GCPTerraformLooker / MetabaseFivetran / AirbyteGitHub ActionsKafka (planned)What we're looking for3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar roleStrong SQL skills and proficiency in Python (Scala is a plus)Hands-on experience with modern cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or RedshiftExperience with workflow orchestration tools including Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or similarStrong understanding of data modeling and experience with dbt or comparable transformation frameworksExperience designing and maintaining production-grade data pipelinesA strong sense of ownership and a commitment to building reliable, high-quality data systemsAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly to cross-functional stakeholdersExperience implementing secure, privacy-conscious data practicesNice to haveExperience in a B2C SaaS, subscription, or marketplace businessFamiliarity with Segment, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar product analytics platformsExperience designing semantic layers or canonical data modelsExposure to streaming technologies such as Kafka or KinesisExperience with ML infrastructure or feature storesPrevious experience building a data platform in a startup or scale-up environmentWhat our client offersCompetitive compensationFully remote work with flexible working hours22 paid vacation days plus local public holidaysA modern engineering environment with contemporary technologiesThe opportunity to help shape a growing Data function from an early stageMeaningful technical challenges with room to influence architecture and engineering practicesA collaborative, product-focused team where data plays a central role in decision-making
