Trades Pro Specialist - Inside Sales

As a Trades Pro Specialist your top priority is to identify and develop customer opportunities within the local market by providing tailored product solutions to in-store B2B customers and government entities. You will drive profitable growth by supporting both new and existing customers, positioning Northern Tool + Equipment as the preferred supplier for tools and equipment, and delivering a superior customer experience through strong relationships and proactive market expansion.Locations: Salem, VA; Lynchburg, VA; Fredericksburg, VA; Memphis, TN; Lake Charles, LA; and Little Rock, AR.Key ResponsibilitiesTrades Pro Customer Sales and EngagementLead in-store sales efforts for Trades Pro by delivering exceptional service and support that drives profitable revenue growth to meet objectives.Engage customers and leads through in-person, phone, and email interactions to understand business needs, recommend solutions, and fulfill product and service requests.Ensure a consistent, positive customer experience for prospective and existing Trades Pro customers visiting the store by showcasing relevant product solutions, capabilities, and recommending timely, value-based solutions aligned to customer needs.Consultative Selling and Business DevelopmentConduct discovery conversations and needs assessments using a consultative selling approach to understand customer business goals, opportunities, challenges, and buying criteria.Translate customer needs into actionable sales opportunities with a solutions-focused mindset by recommending complementary products, soliciting quote requests, and driving incremental account growth.Prepare and compile strategic bids, share customer insights, and evaluate new commercial customer opportunities.Support new customer acquisition, conversion, revenue, and growth objectives.Partnerships and Cross-Functional CollaborationBuild strong working relationships with customers and internal partners, including inventory, merchandising, retail teams, and sales leadership.Collaborate with the supervisor and sales team to develop targeted action plans that support revenue, conversion, and engagement goals.Hand-off customers or leads to appropriate sales partners to ensure a superior customer experience as needed.Sales Operations and CommunicationAccurately document all prospect and customer information—including contacts, call notes, business insights, and opportunity data within company systems.Communicate key developments, customer feedback, and emerging opportunities to the sales team and supervisor.Coordinate daily activities with store team members to support a cohesive, customer-focused environment.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support store sales performance and B2B customer satisfaction.Performance Management / KPIs and ReportingCollaborate with leadership to develop targeted action plans aligned to lead opportunity, conversion, and engagement goals.Drive marked revenue growth and targeted customer visits within the assigned geographic area.What You Will Bring to the TableHigh school education or equivalent required; college coursework preferred.2+ years of sales experience; business-to-business sales preferred.Ability to embrace change, manage multiple demands, shifting priorities, and readily accept new sales approaches.Self-starter with a strong commitment to achieving company sales goals.Strong customer service and selling skills including listening, empathizing, and identifying customer needs to recommend appropriate solutions.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to ensure customer satisfaction.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of light industrial products a plus.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Experience working with CRM/lead management systems preferred.Valid driver's license.Demonstrates Northern Tool + Equipment's 12 Core Competencies.About UsNorthern Tool + Equipment is a family business with roots stretching back three generations to Minnesota's Iron Range.
