Entry Level Software DeveloperDepartment 428 Electrical Systems is looking for a highly motivated software engineer to join the Monitoring & Control System Group.The Monitoring & Control Systems Group is a COLUMBIA Program dedicated team responsible for the development of the Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Monitoring and Control (HMC) system. The HMC system is a networked based system that provides signal conditioning and electrical flow paths for control, indication, monitoring, and alarms based on sensor (e.g., temperature, pressure, salinity) data. HMC features comprehensive use of network switches, servers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and display panels located throughout the ship for monitoring and control. The HMC system develops and maintains the software code for all of the applications, including C++, Java and ladder logic for PLCs.Primary Technical tasks may include:Developing, managing and executing software code and associated unit testsSupporting software functional qualification testingMaintaining cybersecurity, interface requirements and specificationsMaintaining formal software requirements documentationSupporting system qualification testingSupporting system/component logistics documentation including technical manuals, ship system manuals and operating instructionsDeveloping written correspondence, technical papers and presentations for Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)Occasional travel may be required for this position.QualificationsRequired:Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree with electrical, computer or software concentration.Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the DOD0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience relevant to the job description.Preferred:Experience working in a Linux environmentPrevious Navy experienceExperience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCsExperience with project management and systems engineering practices and principles including configuration management, Microsoft Project and DOORSProficiency with C/C++, Java, SQL, and/or PLC ladder logicUnderstanding of software development lifecycleFamiliarity with developing hardened applicationsKnowledge of Military system or component development for Naval PlatformsFamiliarity with JIRA, GitlabFamiliarity with microservice software architecture
