Small, innovative preschool, good benefits Education Assistant at Rosebud Preschool Rosebud Preschool is seeking a reliable and skilled full-time assistant for our preschool classroom at our intergenerational preschool. We are located on the campus of Rose Villa, a progressive retirement community along the Willamette River in Milwaukie. By using an intergenerational model, we intentionally create opportunities for our students to interact, learn from, and enjoy the senior residents at Rose Villa. We are inspired by the Reggio-Emilia approach to early education which values art, self-expression, community, and a deep respect for children and childhood. Prior experience with Reggio programs is not required, though we do expect teachers to be interested in learning about this approach. We are looking for an educator with some classroom experience and a genuine interest in working with very young children as well as older adults. General Responsibilities: Work collaboratively as part of a team of educators. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, administrators, family members and Rose Villa residents. Support a safe and engaging learning environment. Model appropriate behavior for children and adults. Assist in preparation of daily snacks for children. Occasional diaper changes and toileting support. Assist in regular cleaning and sanitizing the classroom. Engage in professional development activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the director. Responsibilities to Children Engage in kind and respectful interactions and demonstrate respect for children and their well-being. Help facilitate safe and developmentally appropriate activities that support all areas of children’s development. Work to meet each child where they are at and accommodate children’s different abilities and learning styles. Provide positive and appropriate guidance for children. Responsibilities to Families: Develop and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with all families. Support a classroom where parents are welcomed and valued Responsibilities to Rose Villa residents: Demonstrate awareness that Rosebud is in the heart of a senior living community and be respectful of the residents. Requirements: Genuine desire to serve others, especially young children & elders Great work ethic and professionalism Enrollment in the CBR database (Central background Registry) Current Infant & Child First Aide & CPR certification Current Oregon Food Handler’s certification Strong communication skills 3 excellent professional references The ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Preferred Qualifications: A year of experience working in Child Development or a related field Prior completion of the DELC’s set of safety & behavior trainings Existing ORO account & Logistics: Reports to the Rosebud Center Director Monday-Friday, open year-round Schedule: 7:30-4:30 Hours per week: Staff typically work about 40.5 hours per week including a paid weekly staff meeting.
