The Role: The Process Engineer will plan and execute the process engineering portion of capital projects from inception to completion. This includes process design, process calculations, engineering drawing preparation and review, equipment sizing and specification, installation oversight and start-up of new and upgraded industrial production facilities. Must be able to successfully work with outside engineering consulting firms, equipment suppliers and installation contractors. The plant is expanding in the next several years and we need your help. What You’ll Do: Prepare process flow diagrams, P&ID’s, and mass balance drawings. Develop the scope, schedule, and budget for process engineering portion of capital projects. Determine utility requirements for equipment (steam, potable water, cooling water, compressed air, etc.) Size equipment and piping based on desired production rates, calculate pump hydraulics, assist in the development of HAZOP’s and PHA’s. Define changes to be made to SOP’s and to the HMI screens for equipment additions and modifications. Review vendor submittals, engineering drawings and engineering calculations. Assist in the process analysis, troubleshooting and start-up/commissioning of new and existing processes. Develop engineering design alternatives including ideas for process continuous improvement and cost savings. What You’ll Need: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering 3-5 years of industrial work experience post college/grad school. Experience: Industrial plant or design experience in food production, chemical production, refinery, biotech, pharmaceutical, etc. preferred. General knowledge of Process Safety along with OSHA and EPA regulations as they apply to engineering projects for an industrial manufacturing site. Capital project experience with project values in excess of $2 million preferred. Must be able to work on more than one project at a time. Experience with the preparation of engineering drawing in AutoCAD preferred. Experience in using simulation software such as Aspen preferred. Business Travel. Project assignments would require up to 30% travel to the Keokuk, IA site for a few days at a time. Most of project travel will occur at the beginning of the project and then during the start-up/commissioning stage of the project. During system start-up and commissioning extended work hours may be expected.
